Background

Apart from tiger, one can also spot leopards, striped hyenas, Indian wild boar, chinkara, jackals, Indian flying foxes, sloth bears, sambar deer, chital, nilgai, macaques and mongoose in the dense areas. The area is a home to over 300 species of plants, various reptiles and birds as well.

Some other prominent attractions of the region are:

• Ranthambore Fort, built deep inside the forest area, is a 10th century structure. It reminds tourists of an earlier era when such huge structures determined the power of the ruling clan.
• Ranthambore School of Art is a learning centre for the local villagers. They enjoy painting and sketching here.
• Lakes or small water reservoirs like the Padal Talao, Rajbagh Talao and Malik Talao add some more beauty to the place.
